Dr Richard Trompeter FRCP FRCPCH
Dr Richard Trompeter is a senior paediatric nephrologist having been an NHS Consultant for more than 25 years at Great Ormond Street Hospital and responsible for establishing the dialysis and kidney transplant programme at the hospital. Currently, he is Emeritus Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist at GOSH and Emeritus Honorary Reader in Paediatric Nephrology at the Institute of Child health, UCL.
Dr Trompeter continues to practise as an NHS nephrologist and is clinical lead for the Transition Clinic for teenagers and young adults aged 16 – 30 years, who have chronic kidney disease (CKD) principally nephrotic syndrome, based at the UCL Centre for Nephrology, Royal Free Campus. He is a Senior Clinical Research Associate in the UCL Division of Medicine and continues his research interest in nephrotic syndrome.
Consultation for private patients is at The International and Private Patient Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital and at The Portland Hospital.
His clinical practice and experience is extensive covering the complete range of kidney and bladder problems occurring in infants and children. Nocturnal enuresis (bed wetting) is a major interest.
Publications include more than 100 peer reviewed papers, clinical reviews, editorials and book chapters.
Richard Trompeter acts as a Medicolegal Expert Witness with 35 years experience. He is a Past President of the International Pediatric Transplant Association and Paediatric Section of the Royal Society of Medicine and continues to contribute as a member of Clinical Ethics Committees.
